Honey mustard is a kid favorite at our house. My kids love it on homemade chicken fingers and on salads. I love it on my homemade spring salad. No matter what we eat it on, I won’t buy store bought honey mustard with vegetable oils, sugar and often additives like MSG.
Homemade Honey Mustard…
This homemade honey mustard is a great alternative with only a few simple ingredients like mayo (preferably homemade or this real food version) , mustard (preferably organic), honey (preferably raw) and spices like salt, pepper and garlic.
Simple to make, especially if you already have homemade mayo on hand. If not, homemade mayo only takes a few minutes to make and can be used for a variety of recipes as well.
If you are egg-free, this can also be made with avocado mayo, but the texture and taste will be slightly different.
This works great as a dipping sauce or a salad dressing. It is a great marinade for grilled meats and excellent on baked chicken (dredge in honey mustard and then coat with almond flour and spices).
If that isn’t your thing, it can be a veggie dip or tossed into homemade chicken salad. I like to make a big batch of this to have on hand for several weeks at a time. This homemade honey mustard recipe is packed with beneficial fats from the homemade mayo and is a guilt-free alternative to normal honey mustard sauces.
