One of our most successful new products that we have introduced recently is our new Chicken Fried Steak. We worked long and hard on making this traditional southern comfort style dish into something worthy of the Omaha Steaks name. Instead of using cheap cubed steak, as is traditional, we opted for a tender sirloin steak.
After we perfected our batter and breading, we took the liberty of par frying this product to make it extremely simple and quick to prepare. The result is a tender, melt in your mouth steak, down-home seasoned with a rustic coating that delivers a bit of crunch along with a pleasantly peppery kick.
And what is Chicken Fried Steak without gravy? So at the same time, we introduced our new Country-Style White Gravy. Again, this is not your typical white gravy as we opted to use a Veloute sauce which is basically a chicken stock reduction thickened with a little white roux. Instead of that fatty, wall paper paste gravy that you often see with this dish, ours has an incredible layered chicken flavor that really pairs perfectly with our new Chicken Fried Steak.
Speaking of pairing with Chicken Fried Steak, I like to start off with a nice tossed green salad. For side dishes, I like to stick with the Southern theme and serve it with our Sweet Corn Medley or our Green Beans. For starch, I recommend our Smashed Red Potatoes or our Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and of course, I like to top it all off with our Country-Style White Gravy.
To show you how easy this is to make a dinner for 4 in less than 30 minutes, I put together a quick little step by step recipe using the items mentioned above. I hope you give this meal a try and I hope you enjoy as much as we do at my house. Cheers! Chef Karl
Chicken Fried Steak
Start with a tossed green salad
Serves 4 in less than 30 minutes from frozen
• 4 Chicken Fried Steaks
• 4 trays Smashed Red Potatoes
• 2 trays Green Beans
• 2 cups Country-Style White Gravy
• 4 Chicken Fried Steaks
• 4 trays Smashed Red Potatoes
• 2 trays Green Beans
• 2 cups Country-Style White Gravy
1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Remove frozen steaks from packaging and place on a foil lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes. Flip over steaks and bake an additional 10-12 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
2. Briefly run 2 Country-Style White Gravy sauce cups under water to loosen packaging. Remove lid and film covering cup. Turn cups upside down and apply pressure to center of cup with thumbs while holding edges to remove sauce from cup. Place in saucepan over medium heat. Bring sauce to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve.
3. While steaks are baking and gravy is heating, place 4 trays of frozen potatoes with cello wrap intact in microwave. Cook on high for 9 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Let rest 1 minute, carefully remove cello wrap.
4. Cut slit in center of film of frozen Green Beans. Place tray in microwave; cook on high for 2-3 minutes. Carefully remove film, stir and cook on high for 1-2 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F
